The bad mother part II - In Good Company

You may remember my post - The Bad Mother.

Well - Brad's mom - dearest Judy - sent a comment on that post that for some reason never made it to me. However, it came to me today in the form of a letter grandma Judy wrote to Madi. I love her comment so much that I think it deserves its own blog post. So - enjoy the wonderful words of Grandma Judy about her own "bad mother" (hope you don't mind gr. j) -

"I had a bad mother . . . she taught me hard work, independence, and to never give up when the going gets tough. She made me do baby-sitting jobs at 10 years of age, and had me working full-time by the age of 16 . . . and all that work is a blessing. She taught me how to clean a house, sew a dress, cook, and countless other homemaking skills. When I screamed at her that "I hate you", or that "you're a bad mother" . . . she would have me sit in the corner and watch her work! It was a terrible punishment. Most of you may know my bad mother: Josephine Stewart, mother of 8, and the 1984 Nevada Mother of the year!"

Then Grandma J wrote this to Madi - "Madi, be kind to your mother! Remember everything she teaches you. Soon enough she will be 98 years old and you will have grandchildren! Her teachings and example will be a blessing to you throughout your life."

I just love when my children receive wonderful counsel & lessons taught by their grandparents. They are such an important extension of the parenting my children receive. My children are so blessed to have 4 very kind & loving, honest & hard-working, faithful & devoted grandparents.

So I am in good company! Here is that 98-year-old "bad" mother - I love Grandma Jo! She is most definitely one of my heroes!

These are pictures we took last November. For as long as I have known grandma, she has had an amazing connection with babies.

p.s. - grandma judy - try leaving us a comment again - here's hoping it will work this time!
