This morning, on her first car ride since her surgery, my mom stopped by my house and actually asked me take her picture. She was on her way to the doctor to have her staples removed & wanted to get a picture of the incision "for history". I told her that having me take her picture, definitely presented the danger of the said pictures finding their way to a blog somewhere in the webosphere. She smiled & said that would be OK & she didn't care. Well, I took that to be her full-fledged approval to post these pictures - so, I am going to share. After all, my dad's already sent pictures of her brain to his entire email list!
Mom looked fantastic this morning - almost glowing! She put on make up and though there is still some mild swelling and bruising on her ride side, she looks pretty amazing. She had her hair pulled back in a headband to facilitate the removal of the staples. I am anxious to see how she is able to style her hair to cover the small area they had to shave on her right side.
Here's the incision - wow! They only shaved a small area of hair along her hair line - not so bad.
The doctor told her the best thing she could do for her rehabilitation & recovery is to walk. When she asked how far, he said "oh, maybe a mile in the morning & a mile in the evening." She said, "well, right now, I'll just be walking around my house." I look forward to when she starts feeling well enough to walk a mile in the morning & a mile in the evening. I bet it won't be long!
