When I was a kid - I dreamed of having a sucker like this -
I am sure I asked my mom to buy me such a sucker - or at least, I would strategically hint to her to buy me one by telling her how much I had always wanted a giant sucker and how my life would be so much happier if only I had a giant sucker. But alas, my beloved mom never gave in, and consequently, my life was void of a giant sucker. Dear readers, please do not feel too much pity, but I truly have never in my life had a giant sucker. And - I am carrying on that tradition of deprival by not buying giant suckers for my own children.
But - my kids are now the benefactors of a certain mother-gone-soft - who, though she would never dream of purchasing such indulgences for her own children - feels it her grandmotherly duty to purchase giant suckers for her grandchildren.
When Katie had a giant sucker sitting in front of her dinner plate at Mammy's house on the day after her birthday - Ben looked at it enviously & asked Mammy if she had gotten him a sucker. Mammy kindly told him that it was for Katie because it was for her birthday. Ben cried. Then he asked - for Christmas, Mammy? Can you get me a sucker for Christmas? Well - it's not Christmas - but Ben got his sucker - about 3 days after Katie got hers! And Lacey - well - she got one because Ben got one - you know how that goes.
