What I love about the 4th of July

My cousin, Kristin, tagged me with the easiest tag ever - so I am actually participating in a timely manner this go around. (I have been tagged at least 4 times in the last few months & have yet to respond to those tags, party poop that I am - but this one is so easy & fits right along with my 4th of July post.)

The tag is simply this - to share "what I love about the 4th of July?" I think I love everything about the 4th of July. I am so thankful to live in America, and thankful that we have a day to honor the freedom that we are so blessed to enjoy. To me, the 4th is a family holiday to be shared with those you love, when at all possible. Brad & I do not have a specific tradition when it comes to determining where we celebrate - as long as we are with our loved ones - it just doesn't matter where we are. In the past 5 years we have spent our holiday either in Woodland, the cabin, or in LV (sweltering heat & all!), swimming at my parent's house. This year, we were in Woodland and the entire Wallace family was together. Anyway - this post is really just about what I love about the holiday (I will share the specifics of our day in a later post) So - here you go - only some of "what I love about the 4th of July" - in pictures, of course -

#1 - Little kids decked out in Red, White & Blue

Ben, age 2

Jacob, Jaxon, & Jamison

Ellie, age 2

#2 - Hanging out together

Rachel, Madi, & Josie - defying the camera, as usual

Jacob, Katie, & Jaxon

Emma & Abby - the oldest Wallace grandchild & the youngest Wallace granddchild

#3 - The food! - BBQ & homemade ice cream are a must!

Uncle David tends the burgers as Uncle Russ lends his moral support.

Wallaces enjoying dinner together!

#4 - Sparklers!!

Lacey Grace - she's always been a bit suspicious of the old sparkler - keeping it at arm's length!

Benjamin B - his first sparkler experience!

I'm with you. What's NOT to love about the 4th of July! Amy gave us a patriotic devotional this year and it made me appreciate the 4th even more!

All good choices for the 4th of July. We can't have sparklers here, and I really miss them.

Wonderful reasons for loving the
4th of July! I, like Judy, miss the sparklers, too. They are one of my favorite things.

My son Cameron was very concerned when he read the part that says children "decked out" in colors. He wanted me to tell you that decked out means to hit someone! :) I explained to him what "decked out" means - and that you don't hit your children...

...then he saw the post about Laceys bike accident! I had to really reassure him that you don't hit your children!!! :)

It was fun for me to visit your blog again. We have sure had and interesting summer, and our 4th was quite uneventful, but it looks like yours was pretty good other than the bike accident. Hope she has healed really well.
