Haven't we all asked this question at some point in our parenting careers - "why do I buy my kids toys, anyway?" I have had more than one conversation with friends and family about how our kids often seem to be happier playing with random objects around the house than they do with the newest toy we have bought them. These picture of Ben provide evidence of why parents have such conversations.
Each morning when we embark on our daily walk, Ben asks me for a rock (in these days of desert landscaping, I can find a rock at any point along our walk because they line the sidewalks and walking paths no matter where we go). At his request, I then pick out a rock which he then holds and carefully studies. He puts it in the tray of his stroller for a while and lets it enjoy the walk with him. After a while, he always tires of the rock's company, for whatever reason, and throws it back with the other rocks along the sidewalk. "bye bye rock."
Silly Ben has been playing with batteries for months. We have always kept a stash of batteries in a drawer by Brad's sink in the bathroom. Ben discovered this treasure a while ago and has been happily playing with batteries ever since. I don't get the magic, but to Ben, they are the coolest toy he can find!

I love the look on Ben's face in the first photo. You can tell he is pretty thrilled with his new treasure...such cute photos:)
Carter loves batteries too! He loves to change them whenever his toys do not work properly and whenever he sees them at Sams Club he begs for me to buy more batteries. Funny boys!
Ben has my favorite head of hair right now!
Oh my gosh this is so so so true!!!! Lately I have been buying dollar store toys, and then I don't feel so bad for throwing them away..."clutter" when the kids break them or get tired of them.
Ben is so darn cute...do you just love on him all day!!! Wish I could see him to kiss those cute cheeks of his!
I loved this post for two reasons:
1. because it's so true
2. Ben's chubby little fingers cradling the batteries
Cute, very cute!
