{I have some video that I hope to post soon.}
With a few of her friends, Katie taught us a game that helps you to identify different types of triangles - we got a refresher on the meaning of obtuse, equilateral, and isosoles trianges. Sorry I don't have a picture of the game to illustrate.
Meet the 1000 chain. Lacey introduced it to us at Parent Child Night. She has learned to count to 1000 by 10's using this chain of 1000 beads. In the picture notice the red & blue tabs. Each little red tab is labeled with 100, 200, 300, etc. while each blue tab is labeled 110, 120, 130 . . . 210, 220, 230, etc. Lacey first organized all the little tabs from 10 to 1000, then she placed them around the 1000 chain.
Oh so much to learn about the ocean! 5th grade students at a local elementary school teach children from neighboring schools about some of the intriguing life that abounds below the water. Lacey's kindergarten classroom was one of the beneficiaries of this school's program. I was impressed with the teaching skills of the 5th graders - who seemed oh so big to the 5 & 6 year-old kinders!

What a great idea a parent-child night. I love the thought of Katie giving you guys a power point presentation:) The field trip pictures are really cute.
Wow it is amazing how fast these young kids pick up computer skills....so much more than I! I love the hands on way they thought to teach counting skills....so much more concrete! I wish I could have gone on that field trip! Looks super interesting. So much info and interesting stuff about the ocean!
your kids are very blessed to go to such an interactive school. Fun night...

Wow LaRae, it has been a long time since I have visited your blog and you have really had a lot going on! Your new blog "look" is great! And I really like what I hear about your children's school...we could sure use schools like that here in California. Would you mind sharing the name of the school?
OK, this school is cool. I wish I taught there.
