If you don't feel like throwing up at the moment, read on & you just might. One evening last week, as I was occupied in the kitchen, Ben walked into the room while licking the bottom of one of Lacey's shoes! What would possess him to do such a thing? I have no idea! The bottom of the shoe did have a fairly interesting texture, but really, why lick it? He's never licked the bottom of a shoe before & I hope he never licks one again. I tried to put the image out of mind and then this morning, he grossed me out again! The silence from the other room told me that all was probably not well, for when there is silence and you're almost two, you are definitely up to NO good!! Sure enough, Ben had one of the toy dishes in the bathroom, standing in front of the toilet, and scooping out water, and drinking it! Thankfully the toilet had been flushed - things could always be worse! Just thought I'd share!

The story is not complete!
How did mommy respond when she discovered this? Did she scream, faint, curse, or rush for the bottle of ipecac? Or all of the above?
Groooossss! Boys!
Maybe it's just "almost 2yo phase" My friend recently posted on her blog about their drive home from the beach when her two year old was licking the sand (and heaven knows what else)off the bottom of her feet!
Doug - here's the rest of the story regarding the toilet water - this mama is not as germ phobic as another mama you know oh so well. I did let out a little scream of disgust & I did think about brushing his teeth, but I was too lazy to go upstairs & get his toothbrush. So - I got him a drink of nice, clean water, figuring that he must be thirsty!
That is gross. However, I would still take a kiss from Ben anyday.
now that is gross!
silence is not so golden when you have a two year old boy. so true!
Ryan was just asking if he could play with "benny". Im not so sure now... I dont want ben teaching him to drink toilet water! At least it was clean water, right?
LaRae - I found the perfect thing for Ben. I had seen this before, but when you wrote you YUCK post, went looking - it really is perfect for him - check out the link

Rose took a pee bath in Spencer's bathroom down stairs, after he did not flush, and left the door open.....so I can honestly say that this isn't that bad! Oh the joys of motherhood. (Belle never did any of this stuff!
In this mommy's defense...I have only cursed once or twice in dealing with the nastiness of toilet water playing/drinking/bathing. etc. Belle did do this Dawnae just doesn't remember!
