Happy Birthday Dear Lacey

My baby girl is six today! She has been waiting patiently for her birthday since Katie's birthday 2 months ago & now it is here. When Lacey was born, she had the softest, curliest black hair and the chubbiest cheeks. Seeing all that thick, dark hair, my dad immediately gave her the nickname "hair girl", which has continued to be her nickname ever since. Lacey was my biggest baby & when she was born I was amazed at how big she looked, being just over 8 pounds.

Doesn't this precious baby look like the sweetest Christmas present ever? Let me assure you, she was! It was a wonderful experience to have a baby during the Christmas season. I found myself reflecting on the Savior's birth in a more personal sort of way, being an expectant mother during the Christmas season. Amy Grant's beautiful song, "Breath of Heaven" seemed to take on new meaning as I contemplated the birth of my own baby.

Lacey was due on December 24th. Had she been born on that day, she would have shared a birthday with granddaddy Ken, but I am glad that she came 10 days earlier! Last year, Lacey celebrated her birthday with a Rudolph party with a few of her closest girl friends. Her guests all got Rudolph noses and antlers; we played reindeer games, like pin the nose on Rudolph; and we made reindeer cupcakes. This year, her birthday will be a little more low-key. I am picking her up early from school (in just a few minutes) and taking her to lunch and then shopping at the mall. It will be just she & I! I will give you a full report later this week (hopefully). Then tonight, we will be going to our ward party. If your birthday is in December, you have to share your day with so many other festivities!

On this birthday post for my dear daughter, Lacey, I thought I would share a few pictures from this past year. It's been a great year! Over the past year Lacey has become a proficient reader, she has learned to tie her shoes, she started kindergarten, she went on fun trips to Woodland and the cabin, & she went to Hawaii. What more could a 5-year-old ask for?

Lacey made this in school for Valentines day. Each child wrote a wish from his or her heart on the heart then all the children's puffy hearts were hung from their classroom ceiling. Lacey's heart says "I wish my family would love me forever."

What a cutie! Happy Birthday, Lacey. I remember meeting Lacey when she was four months old. She reminds me of Kimmy.

Happy Birthday Lacey girl~ Vivien was missing you all day yesterday, wishing she was there to help you celebrate your birthday! She wondered "why did dad get a job in this place where we can't even get to the birthdays??" Happy B-day Lacey:)
