I am sure you have been dying to know if Katie made a dent in her birthday gift list or if her list will have to carry over into Christmas - so here's the report . . .
Katie's birthday celebration began with lunch with mom at Big Apple Bagel, a fun tradition we started a couple years ago. Katie had a bagel and chocolate milk & then we went to Walgreens & bought some gum & a few goodies to give her 3 friends who would be coming over for a little birthday celebration during the evening.
We celebrated simply, but still had a lot of fun. Katie had her 3 closest friends & mammy & poppy over to our house to open gifts. Katie got a cute shirt & sweatshirt from Justice from her friends & a gift certificate to Hallmark so we can go buy her a new Webkins. (We still have to do that!)
You will all be glad to hear that Katie did get her 13 packs of gum, as requested, thanks to her sisters. She also got nail polish & her own lotion & shampoo, and other fun things from Madi, who spent her own money on her sister. Before Katie's birthday, Lacey called up mammy & told her she wanted to come over & do some jobs to earn some money. Then she used the money she earned to buy Katie a birthday gift - gum & lip gloss, as requested on Katie's birthday list. Katie also got "cute pajamas" - which she asked for on her list. She is modeling them here, and they have become instant favorites!
Katie also got 2 of the toys that she wanted from the Highlights catalog along with a CD player & the Hannah Montana CD she asked for - here's her reaction to this gift!
After we opened gifts, we all went to Jason's Deli for a yummy dinner - with a menu so big that there is something for everyone. Katie's cousins, who live close, came over to the restaurant to help us celebrate. For her birthday cake, Katie had strawberry cupcakes with the "free" vanilla ice cream you get at Jason's Deli.
The next day Katie had a little birthday celebration at school. She created a timeline of her life which she shared with the class. Then her classmates had the opportunity to ask her a question or give her a birthday wish. I wish I would have thought to bring my video camera! We brought banana bread to share with the class as a birthday treat.
I'm certain that Katie didn't get every single thing on her birthday list, so I guess she'll have to hold out for Christmas. Nine-years-old! One more year Katie - & then you're a "tenager!" Double-digits here we come!

You guys really know how to do birthdays at your house! I love the timeline/birthday wish/question from her school. What a great idea.
Katie really looks grown up in these pictures! It looks like a wonderful b-day celebration:) Happy b-day 9-year-old!
oh not the double digits!!!! It doesn't appear that Katie is going to go through that gawky kid stage, you are such a gorgeous girl! (as are your sisters....you guys must have some good genes!) Happy birthday kiddo, and so glad that you made a dent in that birthday list. Enjoy the single digits for one more year!
