Why the fascination?

I would love to know why one-year-olds are so fascinated with the toilet & toilet paper. I just don't see the beauty in it all, yet one-year-olds throughout history have been drawn to the bathroom throne & it's accessories. This picture of Ben was taken the end of March (when I still thought his love of tp was cute). Many rolls of toilet paper later, it's not so cute anymore. Ben will run in a bathroom every chance he gets! He loves everything about the bathroom from the toilet and the toilet paper to the trash can and the bathtub - oh yes and even the plunger (which he found in one bathroom) Lovely! I know the solution should be simple - just close the bathroom door. {At least that works for now since he still can't open doors - what will I do when he can open the doors - not sure!} Yes, the solution is simple, but for some reason we all have a difficult time remembering to close all the bathroom doors. I must brag that I am the best at remembering this simple task. I go along all day long closing bathroom doors after people have forgotten to do so. However, on occasion I can forget as well. Just today I was looking for Ben (after he was missing in action for about a minute) in one of 3 possible rooms he's allowed to hang out in downstairs. I could hear him, but I couldn't find him. He had gone into the bathroom & closed the door behind him (a new favorite trick of his). I walked in to find his sippy cup in the toilet. Yuck! ALL RIGHT, WHO LEFT THE BATHROOM OPEN THIS TIME?!! Well, that would be me since the girls are all in summer camp this week. How did that happen?! I think Ben has a sixth sense when it comes to bathrooms & he just knows when a bathroom has been left unsupervised & he takes full advantage of such situations. I know that his love of bathrooms will be gone one day, but I still have to ask - babies the world over - why the fascination?

I have noticed over these past months that Ben has a great wardrobe!

I just got caught up on your blog. Madi and Katie look great with their new hair styles! Keep an eye on Lacey, although I'm sure she knows better from the last experience. :-)

Looked like a fun Father's Day gathering. Uncle Mike sounds like a trooper...being pooped on and all!

The pictures of Ben and his Dad are sweet.

I wonder the same thing about children and bathrooms. Zach has been known to throw toys in the toilet and flush them down. Fortunately I'm pretty sure he has outgrown that stage.

Well, at least there's no pee in the toilet. My friend found her little nephew splashing in a toilet with pee pee. He was wet from head to toe. She was screaming and he was laughing. Someone forgot to flush.

I don't get the fascination either and ALL of my one-year-olds have loved the toilet! It is just the grossest thing. I am afraid Nicolette is soon heading that way of the toilet:( glad to see Karla commenting:)

If they only loved the toilet that much when they are learning to USE it...then we would be in business!
