Dancing Divas

Saturday was our much-anticipated dance recital. Katie & Lacey were the dancing divas, and they (along with 200+ other dancers) put on quite a show! The girls were anxious to show us their dances and of course, they always love an excuse to wear make up! We actually went to 2 recitals on Saturday - Lacey's was at 10:30 in the morning & Katie's followed at 1:30 pm. It made for a rather long day (as we watched 70+ dance performances between the 2 recitals) & Brad did remark that his legs ached after sitting for so long - but aching legs aside - it was a great day! We are very glad that Ben got to spend his day at Mammy's or it would have been an extra long day for everybody!

Lacey danced a tap number to "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from Annie. Lacey's teacher, Ms. Sheila, would try to get all her 5-year-old students to smile by telling them that if they didn't smile, they must be "naked" since "you're never fully dressed without a smile." However, Ms. Sheila pronounced "naked" as "neked". So one day, after her teacher had used this word several times, Lacey asked me, "mom, what's "neked?" Once I explained it to her, I think it brought a whole new understanding to what Ms. Sheila was saying & Lacey never danced without a smile!

Katie danced to "Call Me, Beep Me" - the Kim Possible theme song. If you're not a Disney channel guru, you may not know that Kim Possible is a cartoon character on that channel. She is a high school cheerleader by day & a teenage crime fighter, out to save the world, by night. It was a jazz dance and the girls showed lots of spunk & very cool "attitude"!

This was our first recital with this dance studio. This studio is a lot closer to home than our last, so it was fun to see lots of familiar faces. Between school & church, we knew a lot of the dancers. Here are a few pictures of our dancing divas . . .
