Tonight I am thankful for the little things like -
The cooler morning temperature that made my morning walk so much more pleasant. I didn't come home with a beet red face & sweat dripping off me!
Going to the grocery store by myself! Madi has finally decided that she is OK to stay with the kids in the afternoon (especially if Ben is sleeping) so I can run errands close to home. This is a HUGE accomplishment for my fearful child! She is conquering her fear & I am so proud of her. It is also such a major help to me.
Katie & Madi have finally decided that they like peanut butter. This makes packing lunches sooo much easier.
Dark chocolate M&M's - No explanation needed! Now I just have to learn when to STOP eating them!!
My internet connection is working! - Yesterday our internet connection was down all day & now with my blogging obsession, the absence of the internet is more frustrating than ever!
Ben's little tricks - Ben is learning new things everyday & it is so fun to watch the world of language & communication unfold. It is truly a miracle. Every day he learns something new.
I live in America - OK, this is NOT a little thing - but it has been on my mind a lot as I am reading a book about an amazing woman who survived the holocaust in Rwanda in the 1990's. I cannot imagine living the way she had to live. It is incomprehensible and utterly wrong. No one should ever be treated the way she & her people were treated. When I read a book like this, it makes me angry at all the people who complain about their life in the United States. How blessed we are to live in a free country and to be lead by a president and congress who do not always agree (and we may not always agree with them), but who are not some horrific dictator or wicked faction who decides to exterminate people simply because they are of a certain ethnic background. We are blessed & need to thank the Lord everyday for the opportunity to live in this country.
Tomorrow night is my book club meeting on this book. Maybe I will have some things to share with you. Until then - except for that last BIG thing, I really am thankful for the little things. Just felt like sharing . . . goodnight!

Yeah for Madi! This is such an amazing help and a freeing feeling to have someone who can help a bit. I am so glad she is conquering her fear, for you and for her! The dark chocolate m&m's, yum! I have been staying away from them, but wanting to buy them every time I am at the store. I would like to know how the book club discussion goes. Keep us posted on that :)
Thanks for reminding us to be thankful for the little things. It is funny the storm brought you cooler temps which you are thankful for...and it was down right chilly here. The high will only be 59 today. I think that we all too often forget how lucky we are to live here. It truly is a gift. We need to be so appreciative of those brave men and women that have given their lives, and left their spouses and children, to protect our country.
More wonderful pages, thoughts, and memories! What a great way to keep a journal! Love, GJ
