Katie's Mother's Day Tea was simply delightful! She served me my refreshments, all made by the children. We had cucumber sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, and lemonade & herbal tea. A "tea" indeed! When I tried to share some of my food with her, Katie politely declined and said that she would be able to have some later & that she needed to take care of me first. Very nice! Katie also presented me with a beautiful blue bracelet that she had beaded along with a poem she wrote. I would love to share it with you -
My Mom
My mom is calm and beautiful
She has brownish blondish hair
My mom talks to me
My mom loves to take a walk
or read a book
She is sweet, kind, & exciting
She takes me places
I love my mom

After we ate, the class sang 3 songs for us & recited a poem they had memorized. Every year they sing the song "She", which brings always brings a lump to my throat & a tear to my eye.
"She is not the picture on the magazine. She's the woman just behind you in the checkout stand. She may appear to be common but she mystifies. In all the ways that wisest men and children understand. 'Cause she has eyes that sparkle with her love. And she has a smile that's as gentle as a dove. And no woman in a movie or an ad could ever hope to be as beautiful as she. "
"She is not a highly honored diplomat held responsible to lead the world to peace. But, what she does is ev'ry bit as serious, amidst the turmoil ev'rywhere that will never cease. 'Cause she has hands that wipe the tears away. And she has a voice that makes everything okay, and no woman from the papers or TV could ever hope to be as indispensable as she."
"And it breaks my heart ev'ry time I see her wonder if she means anything in this world that pulls her under. And she doesn't always see the way that heaven smiles above her, that's the reason I try to always tell her that I love her. 'Cause she may not be known for giving millions to the charities and auctions on the news. but I believe she's given more than anyone on all the times she's ever had to choose, to give up sleep and rock her children ev'ry night. And give her heart to always hold their dreams so tight. And the best that you and I could ever hope to be, is as wonderful as she." The song is by Cherie Call.

Did the classes have their teas at separate times so you could attend both?
The Mother's Day Teas were spread throught the day, so I actually attended 3 - all at separate times. I still have to blog Madi's. Lacey's was at 9:30, Katie's at 1:30 & Madi's at 2:30.
Very cool. I downloaded "She."
I do love that song "She..." Has been a favorite of mine for a while. I think I first heard it on one of the Women of Faith CD's and then I had someone in my ward sing it for a RS lesson back when I taught - I can imagine it would bring a tear or two with kids singing it... Thanks for sharing.
i wanna attend a mother's day tea! lucky you and 3! wow. what a treat
Katie's Tea sounds just as great as Lacey's. The song does have beautiful lyrics. I have not heard it before though. I really liked Katie's poem a lot. I think she did a wonderful job in "summing" up her mom :)
Wow what better compliment could a mom get than she is "calm"!!! I wonder if my kids would say that......hmmmm.....By the by....I was looking at that way cute picture with you and Katie, and wow she really looks like you. Your blue eyes and hers are about the same shade, and the bone structure, forhead!!! I just had never really noticed before!
