This one's for you Lesli - thanks for the tag! So if you are new to blogging - like me - you may not have known that you can play tag on the internet. Well you can, & I got tagged. So - the person who tagged me (Lesli) requested that I share something about myself - specifically 5 random things about me & 6 things that make me happy - she tagged me after being tagged herself & so the game goes. Technically I'm supposed to tag someone, but I don't have anyone to tag, so I guess this little game ends here! Anyway - I have been thinking about this all week, so here you are . . .
here's the random -
1. How's this for silly . . . when I was in elementary school, I thought it would be really cool to have a broken leg. A girl in my 2nd grade class showed up at school one day with a cast & crutches, and everyone paid so much attention to her! I was a bit envious, so - I decided I would break my leg too & proceeded to choose my mode of accomplishment. I was sure that jumping off the counter in our family room would do the trick. (was I seriously that desperate for "special" attention?) After repeated attempts, I am sorry to say I was not successful, & I have yet to break my leg!
2. I'm a salt girl - inherited it from my dad! Gotta salt my food - if I have to go through a meal without salt, it drives me crazy!
3. I have to rinse every dish before it goes in the dishwasher & can't stand to leave a speck of food on a dish or piece of silverware in the process - can you say obsessive compulsive?
4. If I see a sign that says "please don't touch" or "keep off the grass" or "quiet please", I just want to run & touch whatever it is I'm not supposed to touch, put a toe on the grass, or make a sound - just a tiny bit of rebellion trying to get out of this obedient body!
5. I am just like the little kid who resists going to bed even though you know he or she is completely exhausted. It's not that I don't like my bed or sleep, I really do. I just wish I didn't have to sleep - there's just too much I want to do & I could really use that extra time when I'm sleeping! (bonus #6) When I do go to bed, cold sheets please! When I was a freshman in college, I would insult my roommate by telling her she couldn't sit on my bed if it was getting close to bedtime. Now I insult my husband by telling him the same thing. I just can't stand it if someone "warms up" my side of the bed before I get in.
and here's the happy -
1. I just love a clean kitchen - a clean house is even better, but a clean kitchen makes me smile.
2. I don't get to go there very often, but when I walk into the district (a great outdoor shopping area not far from where I live), I just feel happy all over - Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Ann Taylor Loft, Gymboree, PF Changs - all in a beautiful, outdoor surrounding. What more could a girl want?
3. Have you ever noticed just how beautiful sleeping children can be? Their skin is almost transparent & they look so angelic. Looking at my sleeping children clears away any frustration of the day! The added bonus is a quiet house, and even though I wouldn't want that all the time, at night, it makes me so happy!
4. I love flowers - I love to plant them in my yard in the spring, I love to buy them at the grocery store & put them in my kitchen, I love them on my daughters dresses - flowers make me happy.
5. I just love being surrounded by family, & a big family gatherings with as many grandparents, aunts & uncles, and cousins as possible makes me happy . . . lots of Zobrists, lots of Wallaces, or better yet, both families, is the greatest!
6. The end of tax season makes me cheer! That means I get my best friend & confidante, my husband, back for a while - so here's to April 15th! For me, it is a great day! Yea!
I could EASILY add more to both lists, but for now, we will leave it at 5 random & 6 happy for me. It's fun to take a look at my own little quirks & my own little joys. So, even though I don't have anyone to officially tag for their own blog, feel free to post a comment & share your own random & happy list with me. You'll be glad you did!

Ha! That broken leg story sounds more like something Lexi would do than you. Maybe she'll turn out okay after all.
As for the "the district," let's make sure Janae stays far, far away.

Hey, LaRae!
I visited Janet N's blog and there you were! I actually screamed out loud and my 13-year-old came running. "That's LaRae! My friend from high school," I said. I can relate to your "kitchen" prologue. 'Course the other 8 hours of the day, not spent in the car are in my laundry room. But that is becoming less and less since half of my kids have gone to college! Hope we can talk soon. LaRae H Lemich
you look great i these pictures
