"Ladies & gentlemen, our plane has been cleared for landing. It is 11:40 pm local time and it is 91 degrees with clear skies." Ahhh - yes, just the words I had been waiting hours to hear - we were home! Six hours on a plane is long enough! I sang out a little "halleluiah chorus" when the plane landed, though I am sure my flying-phobic mother was even more excited when the plane touched ground. I have to say that no matter how wonderful it is to go away & explore new places, it is always so good to go home.
Aloha - everyone! We are back from Hawaii & what a trip we had. After 12 days, our grand adventure is over - no more warm water, ocean air & trade winds - just dry desert air, sunshine, & heat. That's OK - it's home sweet home to me.
Our Hawaiian adventure began when we took our little family to Oahu for five days. We then met up with my family - 32 of us in all - on Kauai for another seven days. Here's a picture of our group in the lobby of our hotel - are we crazy or what?! I am pretty sure the hotel staff thought we were a little nutty to bring so many kids to Hawaii. No doubt it is A LOT of people to bring together on what vacation - especially so far away from home! This was the ultimate family reunion - a memory to last a lifetime.
I have so much to share about our trip - I took over 500 pictures, which I am sure you CAN believe. My nieces are nephews are starting to run when they see me - I am the family paparazzi! The sad thing is, I wish I would have taken MORE pictures! But - the sharing will have to wait - I have suitcases to unpack & laundry to do! School starts in less than a week - back to reality!
Before I go - I will share one little memento of Kauai. I absolutely loved this little island & cannot wait to go back again one day! Beautiful does not begin to describe the grandeur and awe presented by the sights we saw. As you know - the "real" thing is ALWAYS better than a picture, but here's a photo of a place that truly took my breath away. I love you, Kauai!

only a six hour flight, huh? We finally landed at 3:37am... only 4 hours late. It was pretty bad. It was a great trip though, cant wait to see all 500 of the pictures
What a fun trip! Can't wait to see the pictures, especially if they look like that one you took of Kauai - really beautiful.
What a great trip and a fabulous memory for all!
Kauai was definitely my favorite island. I would love to go back and be able to do all the stuff we couldn't with the kids. You are going to have to send me some pics of waimea canyon, becuase it was engulfed in a rain cloud when we went, and we really couldn't get any good pictures....:(
